\"\"<\/a>I.C.S.A. has collaborated together with Extroart Foundation, from Palermo, and the Nino Sanciolo Foundation, from Melbourne, to the return to Sicily of the painting “Madonna Orante” (1700) and a clay lantern dating to the Roman period, found in the waters of Basilisco, Aeolian Islands.<\/p>\n

The works, belonging to Sicily’s artistic and archeological treasures, were found in Australia through the work of the Extroart Foundation and of its President, Dott. Ludovico Gippetto.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The return to Sicily of both works has involved the assistance of the Italian Consular Authorities in Sidney, the Nino Sanciolo Foundation, who financed the transport of the works to Sicily, and the Istituto di Cultura Sicilia Australia ( I.C.S.A. ), who coordinated the project.<\/p>\n

The 12th of November 2011, after 42 years of absence, the painting of the “Madonna Orante” was returned to the church of Cristo Risorto in Santa Ninfa – Trapani. Presided \u00a0the official ceremony Monsignor Domenico Mogavero, Bishop of Mazara del Vallo, Dott. Paolo Pellicane, Mayor of the city of Santa Ninfa, Dott. Ludovico Gippetto, together with the highest civil authorities.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Following the ceremony, the painting will be exhibited at the Palatine Chapel\/Palazzo dei Normanni, in Palermo. The work will be on show until the end of December.<\/p>\n

The Roman lamp, an item of major archeological interest, will become part of the official collection at the Museo Archeologico of Lipari.\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n
